I recently visited New York City. It was both exciting and exhausting. NYC has more inhabitants than all of my home country, Norway. They are all crammed into skyscrapers, it seems, or fighting to get into one of the ubiquitous yellow cabs.
I love Manhattan: The way steam rises from the manholes at night, the chance to see orthodox Jews and veiled Muslims side by side on the subway, how it feels like I go from one continent to another when I cross the street from Little Italy into Chinatown...
And I love the food: diners and street vendors, delis and smoothie shops and every conceivable kind of restaurant. On this visit, I especially enjoyed the Risotteria in Greenwich Village and the Halal Boys on the corner of 53rd and 6th.
The video on the right is a kind of capsule version of my days in Manhattan.
