If I had a million dollars
If I had a million dollars, I would buy a flat on Manhattan, in Greewich Village. Here’s why:
I just came back from a week in New York City. I went to attend a conference, but I managed to attach three days of holiday. These days were spent walking the streets of this teeming city, watching the people, the incessant waves of people on the sidewalks and of yellow cabs in the streets. I’ve spent hours just sitting around in cafés, reading a magazine, watching the people, enjoying one of those huge American cups of coffee.
Greenwich village is my favorite. Walking these streets, I am always surprised by something:
- The man with a yard-long dreadlocks
- The little corner store with the super pretty and delicious cup cakes (pictured)
- The cheese store that sells the most wonderful and exotic cheeses from around the world
- The tiny restaurant serving 30 kinds of inexpensive and voluptuous risotto
- The old fashioned Italian deli selling home made Eggplant Parmegian
- The Chinese restaurant with whole roasted ducks on display and succulent home made noodles
And this is only from two late night walks. There are plenty of other surprises just waiting for me.
Many Norwegians have a cabin in the mountains or by the sea. If I had my way, I would choose Greenwich Village. All the little surprises, all the great people and the very charming atmosphere charge my batteries and give me an appetite for life.
